BEAT CANCER; it hurts more than this
// July 3rd, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Designs

I was quite reluctant to blog about this at first lol. Yes, I joined another design related competition. Not that I join a lot but still it seems like a lot for I’m supposed to focus on my upcoming SPM and all?
Anyway, don’t laugh even if it’s ugly/ scary/ not what a bag is supposed to look like, I’m sensitive, lol: ==

Design Description:
To create awareness, the bag design was aimed to look unique, able to grab anyones’ attention from afar. This was done by showing two hands grabbing each breast. Looking closer, a PINK RIBBON is pinned directly onto the chest with blood slowly trickling down. Many could imagine the sharp pain yet the horrendous truth is, BREAST CANCER “hurts more than this”. The pain is unimaginable! In the background are gruesome statistics and facts all around the world and in Malaysia about BREAST CANCER giving the urgency to the society to “BEAT CANCER” itself by being aware and doing regular check-ups.
I don’t think anyone wants to read the longer description of the design which can be found on the VOTING PAGE (comments). So I’ll just quote what I have written before to explain this design more.
But before that, here is the original design before I had to change it into 8 tones of colours due to the rules that were stated. It was really tough I admit, vectoring it.

of course, it has to be beautiful but what is more important to me is the message that the bag design itself can bring to the public, that is creating Breast Cancer awareness.
it came to me that a normal looking bag with a nice design is just not enough, and I wanted something unique and special, something that is out of the box.
I knew that I needed a bag that really could grab the attention of others because it’s what this competition is all about. I knew I was taking a HUGE risk with the design above but I wanted something different. I can honestly say that I experimented a lot with this design comparing to my normal designs.
Fear isn’t a bad thing because with fear, we can save lives here. It scares you in a sense that the image stays in your head and you will not forget that Breast Cancer is an UGLY thing and it’s better to prevent than to regret. That was my main message through the design. I want everyone to BEAT cancer. No one wants to go through this horrendous experience.
This what another unused draft entry that I scraped off:

Yeah =s Something was missing in there and I didn’t like it.
I know my submitted design was not executed perfectly but I like the concept used and tried my best. I got a lot of ideas and inspiration thanks to the internet and putting everything together to get this idea. Well, anyway, if you like it, do vote for it by clicking the little ribbon at THIS PAGE HERE.
If you do not like it, do comment here or there even if it’s sad to hear such things lol =(. If you want to tell me it looks scary, horrible, terrifying, not fit for a bag etc., then no need because I’ve already read a few comments saying that and I’ve explained my views on why it was meant to be so.
Overall, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge about Breast Cancer actually. (Check out the background of the design with those stats in light grey). Those were one of the many true statistics on this disease which really is able to send a wake up call to many.
The end lol. =D Oh, and check out other entries if you like, there are over 100 of them. =s

Okay, so at one blast, I’m gonna post all these photos from many events held in the school or outside school at one go. These are photos all sitting in my camera for almost a month. I haven’t edited the photos from Sports Day yet though.
TEACHERS’ DAY 2009
It was a normal typical celebration of Teachers’ Day this year. Nothing exciting but everything ran smoothly throughout the whole event.

Pretty nice cake? lol

Oh my! This was one of the few ants on the cake. =s

Then Alex’s necktie got a little hungry. I find my captions lame today.

Lot’s of cameras. I recalled it was Ryan’s amazing performance.

One of the many performances during that morning by Kimberly. Another great singer.
BACK TO KUCHING HIGH 2009 (6.20)
Check out Back to Kuching High’s blog for more information on that event. It was a great but tiring one to raise funds for our school due to the fire last year. More information on fund raising here at I love Kuching High’s blog. More than 3 Million ringgit is still needed to reach the target today.

Setting up of our club’s booth early in the morning.

Here was how it looked =) I couldn’t help much because I had prefect duties.

Lining up of students as the VIPs arrive to our school on that very day.

There was even a lion dance.

There were various performances throughout the whole event from morning till evening. First were performers from our very own school.

Someone said he was jealous, not being able to take photos with her. XD
ROBOTS!!!

Many were very generous in donating huge sums of money to the school.

The photo truly captures the excitement everyone had playing at one of the many game booths.

People go to great extent to well, hoop the duck.

Okay, uhh weird photo. lol.

The modern dance was amazing. I remember hearing young teachers screeching and squealing like fangirls when the dancers got just a little intimate. It was well, funny.

He, Pei Jie sung a lot of songs. Was really good I suppose. Can’t really comment much because I don’t listen much to chinese songs.

The main attraction of the day. Danny “Wen Li Ming”? I didn’t know who he was. But he was obviously well-known to have a whole crowd following him as he walks down the stage performing.

It was well, chaotic

She rode a horse? lol..
HARI KOPERASI 2009
It was soo fun this year. Screaming at the top of our lungs to attract customers, going around the school to get people to buy our food. Gosh…

Banyak bankyak orang. This was during peak hour

Drinks!

We also sold ice-cream.

Weird looking banana coated chocolate thing that actually tasted good. lol

Friends come and buy our food lol.

Members of our club selling in 5S2’s class tee.
AFS interview
Yayasan Antarabudaya Malaysia or AFS is a students exchange program which quite a few of my friends and I applied some time ago. The lighting was bad in there. Stole the first 3 photos from Lynny’s FB.

Students fro SMK Kuching High who went.

This was during our break. We uhh camwhored lol.

My paper and I, blurred.
My paper I drew.

This is like a perfect texture. Nice..haha.

I got so bored during our break I posed as a wax statue. =s

Some important minister person =s
AT MY PLACE
This was the final meet up working on the mag before well, finalizing everything. Shot the ending scenes and discussed further on our mag.

Seems like we were not really discussing? lol

His attempts to laugh was so funny. (Check out the blooper vid 2 posts below to see it if you haven’t)

Her smiling scene was the easiest and quickest among all of us.
I’ll end this post with..

MR. GREEDY!!!! He is soooooooooo cute. =D
I hate biology assignments, biology PEKA, and biology corrections. Wow..
A Peek into my Mag Inc
// June 28th, 2009 // 6 Comments » // Updates in life
I actually wrote this piece a while back during the Star NiE: Mag Inc 2009 competition when the person-in-charge of this competition asked us to write a short piece on our experience for The Star. It was intended to be published during the competition itself so we did not disclose much information about what we were working on to the public. However, it was pushed back and finally published today in the Education section (E20) of The Star.

I never expected it to be a full page feature so I didn’t write a long article like the team who shared their experience last week. Due to that, they added a lot of words to make my piece longer, lol. Also, I would like to mention, I’m no attention whore, not introducing my team members one by one =( I mentioned them in a caption for another photo with all of us in it. In the end, that photo wasn’t used. Maybe it was because I recalled the photo was a little too dark and we could not find time to take another photo as requested due to the fact it was during our semester exams and at the time, I was not in school, having my inter-school debate competition. So sorry! =s
Edit: My dad bought the newspapers and the photo of us 5 were in the papers, just not online. All the worrying for nothing haha.
Anyway, here’s the article: Click to read!
NEWS
// June 27th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Updates in life
I was reading The Star online today and stumbled upon this news: Kelantan prince orders estranged wife to return by July 2.
I haven’t been following this news for awhile since around a month ago. Manohara Odelia Pinot, an Indonesian model who is like only 17 got married to the prince of Kelantan, escaped from him because she was like badly abused. I don’t know why I’m posting this but I just find it very sad. I mean, the girl is like so pretty and she has to go through all this. I really do pity her though why marry a 31-year old man? For money?
I’m happy she escaped from her husband though. She’s back with her family so yeah, hope everything will be okay. lol. I quote below:
She returned to Jakarta after accusing the 31-year-old prince of abusing her physically and sexually. A medical examination in Jakarta allegedly stated she was repeatedly slashed with sharp objects on her chest and had been burnt with a cigar on her forehead.
In other news, I’m gonna buy THE STAR tomorrow! E20!
